Make sure you request the recipient to perform a full inspection of the hood and the packaging upon receipt and note any obvious signs of damage or mishandling. Not sure what their size limitation is either, but it may be cheaper.Ībsolutely insure it for at least full replacement cost, if not more. You can also ship via USPS Priority Mail. It doesn't have to fit in a cargo container, so size should be less of an issue with them. If you ship UPS Ground or FedEx Ground, they will probably accept a full hood as it should weigh less than their 50lb handling limit despite its large shape. Write "Do Not Stack or Crush" all over the box in large letters. Insert hood in box and fill with packing peanuts, old blankets, newspaper, or whatever reasonably soft fill material you can find. Or, if you are so inclined, you can procure a large enough box (or make one if necessary) that allows at least 2-3" of clearance on each side.ĥ. At this point, you can simply take it to a UPS store and let them deal with boxing it up. Bubble wrap.lots and lots of bubble wrap to hold everything in place and prevent scratches.Ĥ. Large blocks of styrofoam work well for that.ģ. If you can, support that edge of the hood along it's entire length. Even if the hood doesn't get dropped, it the corners definitely will either wear or punch their way through the foam and eventually the box.

You want to pad the two corners that are closest to the windshield heavily. Actually those foam noodles that kids use in swimming pools work great, especially if you get the 6" diameter ones and cut a slit down the length of it.Ģ. Certainly the first thing you want to do is either take some of that split-foam pipe insulation and run it along the edges of the hood. You *definitely* want to take extreme measures to protect the corners.
